Role Description

An associate lecturer position is available to cover teaching of the final year undergraduate module “Population Ecology and Wildlife Management” for sabbatical cover. The associate lecturer would be responsible for delivery of existing lecture and teaching materials, administering, supporting and marking student assessments and reviewing assessment materials. and maintaining the online module site. The associate lecturer would also be expected to be available to respond to student queries for two hours each week. The pay rate is £43.79 per contact hour and for each contact hour an additional 1.5 hours work should be expected (marking, administration, office hours and preparation). There are approximately 44 contact hours for this post (to be confirmed).

The ideal candidate will be comfortable explaining quantitative concepts to final year students and supporting students with range of previous experience and comfort with maths. Concepts covered in the course include themes such as Life tables, basic mark-recapture, Lotka-Volterra dynamics and phase plane diagrams, students are taught to understand and interpret equations including differential equations. The module also includes some basic models in R. The lecturer would have access to recorded materials from the module leader to guide their teaching.

Some teaching is likely to be face to face in Cambridge, while other teaching may be online, this may be updated in line with COVID policies.
